REACH
EU REACH regulation Authorization List adding to 43 substances
On 14 June 2017, EU official journal published the REACH regulation (EU) 2017/999, adding 12 substances to REACH authorization list, which now contains 43 substances. This amending regulation will take into effect since 20thday after published.
A new restricted substance PFOA added into REACH regulation Annex XVII
On 14 June, 2017, the EU official journal published regulation (EU) 2017/1000, amending Annex XVII in EU REACH regulation and a new restriction to perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and PFOA-related substances.
REACH SVHC list will update by the end of June
Helsinki, 16 June 2017- The member state committee (MSC) unanimously agreed identify Perfluorohexane-1-sulphonic acid and its salts (PFHxS) as substances of very high concern (SVHCs), and specify bisphenol A (BPA) endocrine disrupting property. The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) will include PFHXS in the SVHC list and will update the current entry for BPA by the end of June 2017. EU RoHS updates the exemptions
On 16 June 2017, the European Commission official journal published three amending directives (EU)2017/1009, (EU)2017-1010, (EU)2017-1011. The exemptions in RoHS directive Annex III refer to lead in bearing and bushes for refrigerant-containing and refrigeration (HVACR) applications, cadmium and lead in glasses used for optical applications. These directives will take into force since the 20thday after official journal published and enforce formally on July 6, 2017.

Chinese food contact composite materials national standard seeking for comments
June 16, 2017, China Food Industry Association Food Contact Materials Committee released the draft Food safety national standard composite food contact materials and products, consulting the relevant department and enterprises. The consultation will close on 16 July, 2017.
Toys & Children's Products
EU amends limit for BPA in toys
On 25 May,2017, EU publishes the toy safety amendment (EU) 2017/898, which lowers the migration limit for bisphenol A (BPA) in toys for use by children under 36 months or in other toys intended to be placed in the mouth. The amendment will come into effect on the 20th day after the official journal published.

EU amends mercury Regulation
On 24 May 2017, the Official journal of EU published its Regulation on mercury (EU) 2017/852, which regulates the use, storage and trade requirements of metallic mercury, mercury compounds and mercury mixtures, as well as the export, import and manufacturing of the mercury-added products, and expounds the management of mercury wastes. The regulations comes into force on the 20th day of the official publication of the EU, with effect from January 1, 2018, and (EC)No1102/2008 will be abolished.

Overview of RAPEX notifications in May 2017
In accordance with the General Product Safety Directive 2001/95/EC (GPSD) and Regulation 765/2008, in May 2017 the European Commission validated180 notifications on dangerous products and transmitted them to the Member States (EU Member States and EEA-EFTA countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).
Overview of RASFF FCM notifications in May 2017
The European Commission validated 350 RASFF notifications this month, including 308 notifications on food, accounting for 88.00%; 24 notifications on feed, accounting for 7.00 %; 18 notifications on food contact materials (FCMs), accounting for 5.00%, in which 12 products from China are contained, accounting for 67.00%. The prime hazards for FCMs are migration of elements and excessive levels of heavy metals.
Overview of CPSC notifications on recalls in May 2017
Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalls 30 batches of products in May 2017. There are 17 batches of Chinese products, accounting for 56.70%.
Monthly overview report of AQSIQ notifications on imported goods in April 2017
General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) validated notifications on 25 batches of imported industrial goods, which were found non-compliant during inspection and quarantine process at the entry ports of China. They have not been offered for sale on the China market yet and are re-dispatched or destroyed instead according to laws.
