DMF Testing

Dimethyl fumarate (DMFu or DMF) is the methyl ester of fumaric acid. DMF was initially recognised as a very effective hypoxic cell radiosensitiser. The strong disinfection effects makes it widely used as disinfection and mould inhibitor of leather, footwear, textiles AND bamboo products. However, DMF has been found to be an allergic sensitiser at very low concentrations, producing eczema that is difficult to treat.
