Toxic Risk Assessment (TRA)

Toxicological Risk Assessment (TRA) is to assess the toxic characters of each ingredient or ingredients combined in a product and exposure and risks for the product during its application. However, the TRA reports shall be signed by qualified toxicologists.

As the alternative of animal testing, TRA testing is faster and has lower costs. It is a safety review targeting at product formulation when toxicologists assess the potential of products to cause chronic adverse health effects under normal and reasonably foreseeable use (such as acute and chronic hazards, irritation or allergic reactions) in the light of use routes, dosage, frequency, contact coverage and area.

Some consumer products are required for TRA compliance, such as cosmetics to the EU market and art materials to the US market.
